Visit to Dulcie, Mike's Mom's Funeral and Quebec

After Father's Day we headed to Cresson, Pa. near Altoona to visit daughter Dulcie, Kevin Hostetler and children Leighton and Aura Lynn. We stayed in Prince Gallitzin State Park without Wi-Fi or cell service. We enjoyed their backyard so much that we added a sandbox.
We also made a day trip to nearby architectural masterpiece, Falling Water by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Mike found over a dozen urgent calls from Fred when our phones found cell towers upon leaving Prince Gallitzin. Mom had a massive stroke. We drove in a circle of confusion, turning away from Gettysburg, Pa. and headed back to Lansing.

Construction on interstate caused slow traffic and a long day. Mike dropped me and 5th wheel at Kay Brun's house. Kay had just had rotator cuff surgery so my arrival was welcome. I assisted Kay in changing a bandage and learning how to adjust her sling. Mike arrived in Lansing time to see his mom unconscious. The family followed all too recent template for his father's funeral arrangements. The service was of course tasteful with many family members in participation. It was exceptionally well attended.
I unpacked 6 large boxes in Kay's attic and gave away pictures, knick knacks and kitchen stuff in parking lot of funeral home and church. Our work clothes are finally completely distributed to our 5th wheel closet or to donation boxes. My grandmother's lamps left Kay's attic for sister in Connecticut along with a load of Cole Haan shoes.

Axle on RV caught on Fire.

We were unable to go to New York to see my mom who was pet sitting for my sister who was away on vacation. Axle burnt up. Mike had no idea that our 2013 Crossroads Cruiser's wheel lube was a far more primitive design than our 2007 Keystone Cougar 5th Wheel. We laid up over the 4th of July in a Brighton repair yard remarkably close to Kay Brun's house. We didn't tell Lansing kin where we were since Mike wanted to lay low. We enjoyed 4th of July fireworks and Kay's neighborhood's soul food feast that included collard greens.

After the 4th the axle was promptly repaired we headed to Canadian timeshare. We stayed 2 nights at Ontario's The Pinery, a provincial park on Lake Huron. Next night we boon-docked in a Walmart and then drove through Ottawa and Gatineau without finding fuel. Mike used his emergency 5-gallon can of diesel fuel in rural Quebec.

Our Mont Tremblant timeshare was comparatively shabby. We missed American media for Republican Convention. We drove around looking at pretty scenery. It was a good place to shake off shock of mother's sudden death.

Traffic in Montreal is the worst in North America. We ventured a day trip into the old city of Montreal.

Ben Franklin tried to enlist the French in the American revolution. He concluded that it would be better to pay them off than to fight them.

After Mont Tremblant we headed to Quebec City. It is a fun destination with great national park interpreters. Quebec City founded in 1608 by Champlain was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site because of the remnants of its historic wall.
